Monty Python star Terry Jones has married the Swedish lover 41 years his junior for whom he left his wife. In a WalesOnline exclusive Jones, said he wed Anna Soderstrom, 30, after divorcing wife of 42 years Alison Telfer a few months earlier.
Jones, who has a four-year-old daughter with Anna, said: We married last year. The divorce came through – sadly – so we got married. We kept it secret. We wanted to keep it quiet from the press. It was a very small wedding – only my daughter and the next-door neighbours came.
The couple were married by a registrar near their home at London’s Highgate Literary and Scientific Institution. Jones, who once told interviewer sex was his hobby, revealed the couple’s honeymoon was interrupted when their Paris hotel room was burgled.
The comedian, who met Soderstrom as a student in her early twenties when she turned up to a book signing in Oxford, added: We went to Paris and we got burgled in our hotel suite. We had to move hotels.

In 2015, Jones was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia, a form of frontotemporal dementia that impairs the ability to speak and communicate.

He had first given cause for concern during the Monty Python reunion show Monty Python Live (Mostly) in July 2014 because of difficulties learning his lines. By September 2016, he was no longer able to give interviews. By April 2017, Jones had lost the ability to say more than a few words of agreement and he died on 21 January 2020 from complications of dementia, at his home in North London.
