According to Black Rob Bio, Wiki, and Biography, He was professionally known as Black Rob, a rapper who was once part of Diddy’s Bad Boy roster — has died … according to his former labelmates.

Rob reportedly passed away Saturday while hospitalized in Atlanta — this after he was apparently battling kidney failure for quite some time … so says NYC radio personality DJ Self, who posted a video of Rob from his hospital bed speaking on DMX’s death.


Rob was Born on July 12, 1969, in Buffalo, New York, and died on April 17, 2021, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was at 51.

Earlier Life and Career

Ross grew up in East Harlem and began rapping between the ages of 11 and 12. He was inspired by the artists he listened to regularly, including Spoonie Gee, Doug E. Fresh, and Slick Rick. When he was 22, he joined his first rap group, the Schizophrenics, though they did not release any albums. He initially rapped under the alias “Bacardi Rob”.

He began associating with the Bad Boy label as early as 1996, appearing on the Bad Boy remix to 112’s “Come See Me”.

Black Rob joined Diddy’s Bad Boy label in the mid-1990s and released his platinum-selling debut album, Life Story, in 1999. Black Rob is best known for his 2000 single “Whoa!,” which reached the Top 10 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap charts. In Vulture’s 100 Songs That Define New York Rap omnibus, writer Shamira Ibrahim praised the track for Black Rob’s stream-of-consciousness storytelling, writing about how it “still gets played out of car speakers during Harlem and Bronx summers.”

In 2013, he joined the reality series “Come Back Kings” with Ed Lover, Calvin Richardson, David “Davinch” Chance (of Ruff Endz), Jeff Sanders, Jameio, Mr. Cheeks, and Horace Brown.

In 2014, he appeared on the song “Take ‘Em Off Da Map” on Diamond D’s album, The Diam Piece. In 2015, Black Rob released his fourth studio album, Genuine Article on Slimstyle Records, which he produced with Jemal Mosley. Guest emcees include Sean Price, Tek, battle legend Murda Mook, and Quas Amill. Ron Browz, former Bad Boy label-mate Q. Parker (112), Kali Ranks, and Quan all sing choruses on the album. Producers include Easy Mo Bee, Coptic, Big French, and others.

According to Black Rob’s Wikipedia, rapper Black Rob had been sentenced to jail for six to seven years.

The artist pleaded guilty for possessing $6000 dollars worth of jewelry which he stole for a hotel and was released in May 2010.

Black Rob died on April 17, 2021, and the cause of his death has not been disclosed yet. The rapper was suffering from health complications and was admitted to hospital before his death. Since 2015, rapper Rob’s health had been deteriorating with kidney failures, diseases, and continuous strokes.
