According to police, he took his victim to an abandoned construction site on Blue Point Road, where he attacked him, NYpost.com reported.
The police did not provide any information about the assault.
Cella allegedly drove about a mile from the construction site to a 7-Eleven on North Ocean Avenue in Farmingville, where he picked up a 60-year-old man 45 minutes later.
According to authorities, he drove the victim to the Blue Ridge Condominium Complex on Granny Road in Medford, where he choked him. Then, according to sources, the victim was able to flee his assailant.
Cella returned to the 7-Eleven at 8 a.m. Saturday, police said, where he picked up a 47-year-old male and attempted to transport him to an unknown location.
However, the victim became suspicious and was able to flee the vehicle, according to police. According to authorities, Cella was apprehended inside his home on Adirondack Drive the next day at 10:15 a.m.
Under the hate crimes law, he was charged with two charges of second-degree aggravated harassment, two counts of criminal obstruction of breathing, two counts of second-degree unlawful confinement, and one case of first-degree reckless endangerment.
