Conchata Galen Ferrell was an American Actress and one of the stars of Two and a Half Men, died on October 12 after heart attack complications.

Despite the fact that she was a normal cast individual from five TV sitcom arrangements, she was most popular for playing Berta the maid for every one of the twelve periods of the sitcom Two and a Half Men.

She was a native of Lauderdale, West Virginia, close to Charleston, but grew up primarily in Circleville, Ohio. Ferrell made her acting debut in 1969 while a student a Marshall University.


Conchata Ferrell has died at the age of 77.

Early life

Conchata Galen Ferrell was born March 28, 1943, in Lauderdale, West Virginia. She was the daughter of Mescal Loraine and Luther Martin Ferrell. She was raised in Charleston, West Virginia. Her family later moved to Circleville, Ohio.


She attended West Virginia University for two years, dropped out, and after working several jobs, enrolled and graduated from Marshall University with a degree in history education. She made her first onstage performance at Marshall in 1969 in the second Barfenon Review, a skit comedy and musical production.

Ferrell began her career on the stage as a member of the Circle Repertory Company. She appeared in the original Off-Broadway cast of Lanford Wilson’s The Hot l Baltimore and won the Drama Desk, Obie, and Theatre World Best Actress Awards for her performance in the off-Broadway play The Sea Horse.

Ferrell was best known for portraying Berta the Housekeeper in the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men, appearing in a total of 212 episodes from 2003 to 2015. She had received two nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2005 and 2007, but lost to Doris Roberts for Everybody Loves Raymond and Jaime Pressly for My Name Is Earl.

In 2012, she voiced the role of Bob’s Mom in Frankenweenie, which was directed by Tim Burton. She was slated to appear in the upcoming feature film Deported (2020) and had earlier acted in A Very Nutty Christmas (2018), a holiday-themed television movie.

Ferrell was married once in her life, two Arnie Anderson, who she wed in 1986. Ferrell gave birth to a daughter named Samantha in 1986. Ferrell told The Chicago Tribune in 1991, “Arnie and I have been together 12 years, married five. We got married because our daughter asked us to.”

She had a daughter, Samantha (born c. 1982), and two stepdaughters (born in c. 1976 and c. 1979).

Anderson is referred to in the Tribune interview as a “sound man.” According to the article, Anderson’s two daughters from a previous relationship also lived with the couple.

Anderson told TMZ in June 2020 that Ferrell had been hospitalized in May after she began feeling unwell. Anderson said that Ferrell was semi-conscious at the time but was unable to communicate. During her hospitalization, Anderson said that Ferrell suffered a heart attack.

In December 2019, Ferrell was hospitalized with a kidney infection. Ferrell’s illness was not-related to COVID-19, her husband said. Anderson told TMZ in June 2020, “It’s going to be a while before there’s any recovery. It’s all neurological. There’s nothing we can do to speed it up the process. We are hoping for the best.”

Ferrell told Channel Guide Magazine in a 2015 interview that she had Type 2 diabetes so all of the snacks in her kitchen were “sugar-free.”

Cause of Death

Ferrell died on October 12, 2020, from complications following a cardiac arrest at the Sherman Oaks Hospital in Sherman Oaks, California. She was 77 years old.
