His clinical interests and expertise include primary and revision ACL reconstructions, multi-ligament knee injuries, meniscal transplantation, patella dislocations and instability, complex shoulder instability with bone loss, revision rotator cuff surgery, AC joint injuries, pectoralis tendon ruptures, distal biceps ruptures, ankle instability and talus OCD lesions.
He continues to devote himself to improving the field of orthopaedics through research. A primary area of interest and expertise is the use of stem cells to enhance healing and graft incorporation in sports medicine. His research goal is to continue to explore and develop through a translational medical approach, the application of biologics and regenerative medicine to sports medicine issues.

He is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at UConn Health. A team physician for Boston University athletics. He was recruited back after serving as an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at Boston University School of Medicine.
He was a former sports medicine fellow at the UConn and has strong research and academic interest. Dr Edgar has a PhD in cellular and molecular biology and established research activities in bone biology, cartilage healing and applications of stem cells for tissue healing.
Edgar is an outstanding educator with many invited lectureships and national level courses that he teaches. He most recently won the AOSSM research award and is considered a rising star in the sports medicine community.
Arrest and Charge
With social distancing and good hygienic practices paramount because of the COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak in the United States, one doctor was arrested for breach of peace. Dr Cory Edgar, who is an assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery working at UConn Health in Farmington, Connecticut, was arrested on Friday, March 27, for allegedly coughing on his colleague intentionally.
Eyewitness News 3 reported that a UConn Health spokesperson confirmed Dr Edgar is not COVID-19 positive, and he’s considered to be in “excellent physical health.” The hospital does not believe that Dr Edgar’s coworkers are at risk of contracting the coronavirus because of his actions.
Witnesses at the health centre believe that Edgar was intentionally ignoring social distancing and safety concerns. It’s unclear at this time his motive for allegedly coughing on his colleagues.
As per the Eyewitness News 3 report, Dr Edgar was issued a misdemeanour for breach of peace. There has not been an update on Dr. Edgar’s employment status with UConn Health. Dr Edgar is also a sports medicine specialist at the University of Connecticut.
