Police reported Monday that a Florida girl named Jacqueline Hernandez who was allegedly stolen by her father when she was 6 years old in 2007 was reunited with her mother at the US-Texas border.
According to a news release from Clermont, Florida police, the girl’s mother, Angelica Vences-Salgado, received a message on social media from a woman in Mexico claiming to be her abducted daughter, Jacqueline Hernandez.
According to authorities, the daughter told her mother she was in Mexico and wanted to meet her at the border.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the Central Florida Intelligence Exchange, Homeland Security Investigations, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement collaborated to assist Vences-Salgado in reuniting with Hernandez at the border in Laredo, Texas, according to authorities.
Hernandez finally saw her mother for the first time since 2007 on Friday afternoon. Investigators posted a photo of the two embracings, claiming that documentation proved the now 19-year-old was Hernandez.
Davide Pezzutti, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security in Orlando, said in a statement, “A kidnapped daughter was reunited with her mother as a result of enforcement working together,”
Hernandez was allegedly abducted by her father, Pablo Hernandez, on December 2, 2007, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, who filed a kidnapping warrant for Pablo Hernandez.
