After the incident, Navarrette was put on modified duty and banned from using a patrol car. He drove along with another deputy while receiving regular service calls. Navarrette returned to normal duty on April 19. “Deputy Navarrette is currently the subject of an internal investigation into this incident and therefore we cannot discuss the case,” a spokesperson said.
