Keelin Shanley was a 51-years-old journalist, newsreader and presenter from Ireland. She works for Radio Teilifis Eireann and Ireland’s national radio and television station. Shanley had presented the Six One News, alongside Caitríona Perry since January 2018.


She was 51 years old at death.

Earlier Life and Career

Shanley was born on 24 August 1968 in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. She has spent the majority of her life living in Ireland but has revealed little about her childhood or upbringing. Shanley attended Trinity College in Dublin and studied Biochemistry before switching to Journalism.

Shanley’s career has been largely based in Ireland’s has seen her work both on television and in radio. She worked as a presenter as a part of the RTE Radio I team on the Late Debate Show in addition to working alongside Sean O’Rourke on his Today Show.

Keelin briefly worked for the CNN team on the CNN World Report and the Radio France International team as one of their news reporters.

Back at the RTE station, she worked as a presenter, covering national elections and special budgets as part of the crew on Crimecall, Morning Edition. She also worked on the Consumer Show in addition to presenting a documentary called Hacked for the Morning Ireland Show.

Shanley has previously presented special budget and election coverage, Crimecall, Morning Edition, The Consumer Show and documentary Hacked on RTÉ One, as well as Morning Ireland, Today with Seán O’Rourke and The Late Debate on RTÉ Radio 1. She has also worked as a news reporter for Radio France International and for CNN World Report.

Husband and Children

She survived with her husband Conor Ferguson, they live with their two young children, a son named Ben and a daughter named Lucy, in Portobello, Dublin, Ireland. Conor works in the advertising industry but the exact details of his job are not clear.

Death and Cause

Around 2011, Keelin Shanley was diagnosed with breast cancer however, luckily the disease didn’t spread. She died on 8 February 2020 at the age of 51.
